Sweet Donside Cabins and Sweetheart Cottage are a stone’s throw from the River Don and the 300 year old Jacobite Poldullie Bridge that the latest Mary Queen of Scots movie was filmed on. We had 172 extras and the props crew just outside during filming. So we made sure we had the hot tub ready for the stunt men – just in case!
We are lucky to be located in The Cairngorms National Park. It is Britain’s largest national park and covers 4,528 square kilometres. With awe-inspiring landscapes, an abundance of wildlife (you might be lucky enough to spot a Golden Eagle) and quite a few castles nearby, there is plenty to explore. We are in the ideal location for sightseeing, walking, skiing, exploring and birdwatching – or you can stay and just chill and relax. It’s up to you.
To help you start planning your trip, here are just some of the beautiful places to visit and things to see and do that we like nearby.
Eating out
Steading Bar is our local pub and opens at the weekend.
Goodbrand and Ross Tea Room is just 10 minutes away and open 7 days a week.
Nb. There are no food deliveries here due to our remote location. If you want to eat out during the week when our local pub is closed, it’s a 25 minute drive to the nearest eateries.
